Abstract
1,237,390. Nuclear power plant. SIEMENS A.G. 14 Oct., 1968 [14 Oct., 1967], No. 48650/68. Heading G6C. In a nuclear reactor plant, the steam or watercooled reactor 1 and steam generator 2 are surrounded by the concrete walls 4 within the safety enclosure 6. Small leakages in the reactor coolant system are contained within 4 for short periods to permit operating personnel to leave the enclosure 6 in safety. The apertures 40 are closed by bursting discs 45 and apertures 42 lead into the fuel element depositing tanks 3, where escaping steam is condensed. Apertures 43, 44 lead to condensing ice stacks 7. The response pressure for the bursting discs in the apertures 41 is higher than the response pressure for the bursting discs in the apertures 42, 43, 44. In the event of a minor escape of steam in a room inside the biological shield, the pressure in that room increases until one or more of the apertures 42, 43, 44 bursts. After a short period the response pressure of the discs in apertures 41 is attained and steam from the interior of the biological shield enters 6.
