Abstract

1,237,208. Selective signalling. HENGSTLER SYSTEME G.m.b.H. 19 Nov., 1969 [30 Nov., 1968], No. 56546/69. Heading G4H. The state of charge of a battery 1, connected to a device 2 which can either charge or discharge it, is determined by converting the amplifier 4 potential across a resistor 3 in the battery circuit into a train of pulses by one of two voltage-to-frequency converters 5, 6, in accordance with its polarity, and using the pulses produced to step a counter 9 forwards or backwards. A discharge counter 14, to register the total ampere-hours discharged, may be provided, and an excess discharge counter 16, to register the ampere-hours discharged whenever the main counter 9 registers a negative count, may also be provided. The voltage-to-frequency converter 5 includes a resistor 10 to adjust its characteristic so that each ampere-hour of charging current is suitably scaled before being counted.
