Abstract

1,237,080. Wax polishes. MIDLAND SILICONES Ltd. 4 Dec., 1968 [12 Dec., 1967], No. 56468/67. Heading C5W. [Also in Division C3] A polishing composition comprises wax and from 0À2-10% by weight of the total composition of (I) a polydiorganosiloxane of unit general formula R n SiO 4-n2 in which n has an average value of 1À9 to 2À1 and in which from 0À5 to 15% of the total R substituents are selected from radicals -RNX 2 or -R<SP>1</SP>Z, R<SP>1</SP> being a divalent radical such that the -NX 2 or -Z group is separated from a silicon atom by at least 3 carbon atoms; X is H or an alkyl or aryl radical and Z is a radical composed of C,N and H which contains at least two amine groups and which is attached to R<SP>1</SP> by a carbon-nitrogen linkage; the remaining R substituents are monovalent hydrocarbon radicals, esp. methyl, or (II) an acid salt of I. In Example 1, a polishing cream consists of Carnauba wax (3 parts), oxidized microcrystalline wax (6 parts), a linkage end-blocked copolymer of 95 mol. per cent dimethylsiloxane units and 5 mol. per cent of methyl # - aminoethyl - γ- aminoisobutyl) siloxane units having a viscosity of 3000 cs. at 25‹ C. (3 parts), emulsifying agent (2 parts), white spirit (20 parts) and water 66 parts.
