Abstract
1,236,881. Continuous casting machines. L. DANIELI, [trading as OFFICINE MECCANICHE DANIELI]. 9 Sept., 1969 [14 Jan., 1969], No. 44517/69. Heading B3F. A continuous casting plant has, at the mould outlet, a composite roller guide formed of a first set of rollers 1 for causing the cast bar 14 to follow a rectilinear path and a second set of rollers 2 for causing the bar to follow a curved path. Below the composite roller guide is a guideway formed by a shoot 7 and rollers 8. The rollers may be mounted on eccentric bushes (15) so that rotation of the bush causes a displacement of the roller to enable bars of different sizes to be accommodated. The composite roller guide may be attached to the mould 5 to be rockable therewith. The bar is cooled by planar jets of water 10 issuing from rotatable nozzles 4, some of said jets passing through openings 9 in the shoot 7. Rotating the nozzles varies the orientation of the planar jets of water to facilitate the casting of bars of different sizes.
