Abstract

1,236,501. Radio direction-finders. MARCONI CO. Ltd. 23 March, 1970 [29 July, 1969], No. 37993/69. Heading H4D. A radar comprises a directional spacescanning aerial D, a substantially non-directional aerial 0, receiving signal channels D1-D4 and 01-04 of substantially equal gain and noise factor and each including a logarithmic amplifier D4/04, a pair of integrators D6, 06, means 07 for adding to the output of integrator 06 a D.C. voltage such as to compensate for the difference in gain between the non-directional aerial and the " worst " (i.e. highest-level) sidelobe of the directional aerial, a subtractor S, and an amplitude discriminator AD producing an output when the output of integrator D6 exceeds that of adder 07. The invention affords a display of the direction of a jamming transmitter. In the embodiment gates D5, 05 are closed for the early part of each radar pulse repetition period to exclude clutter.
