An assembly comprises a plurality of roundheaded nails 12 which each comprise a head portion 13, an opposite point portion 14 and an intermediate shank portion 15, wherein the nails are interconnected to provide a flexible strip in which the nails are laterally aligned in side-by-side relationship with at least the shank portions of adjacent nails spaced when said strip is in an extended condition, said nails being interconnected by a first pair of complementary flexible connecting members 16, 17 which extend across opposite sides of the shank portions and which are secured to each other intermediate adjacent nails so that they together embrace each nail shank portion and form a first flexible ligament, and by a second pair of complementary flexible connecting members 18, 19 which also extend across opposite sides of the nail shank portions and which are secured to each other intermediate adjacent nails so that they together embrace each nail shank portion and form a second flexible ligament, said first and second ligaments being both positioned between the head portions and the mid-points of the shank portions of said nails; whereby the strip assembly can be folded to vary the spacing between the point portions of adjacent nails to control the compactness of the assembly. The disposition of the connecting members permits the assembly to be rolled up so that the pairs of connecting members each take a spiral form with the point portions of the nails in contact and with the surfaces of the heads of successive convolutions of the assembly lying in different planes so that the heads of the nails of one convolution touch the stems of the nails of the next convolution, the assembly when rolled up being of substantially frusto-conical form.
