1,234,806. Cutting laminates; cutting blades. BUTLER 'MANUFACTURING CO. 17 May, 1968 [17 May, 1967], No. 23698/68. Headings B4B and B5N. [Also in Division B3] A method of cutting a panel having a relatively rigid skin portion 14<SP>1</SP> e.g. of steel, aluminium, or thermoplastics material, and an adjacent core portion e.g. of cellular plastics material, comprises initially cutting the skin portion, and then progressively cutting the adjacent core portion whilst simultaneously forcing the cut edges of the skin portion inwardly towards the core portion to form relatively smooth rounded edges 50<SP>1</SP>, 52<SP>1</SP> on the cut skin portions. The cutting may be effected by a circular cutter knife having an enlarged hub 62 and tapering to a thin sharp outer cutting edge 64. As shown the panel to be cut includes two skin portions 14<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>1</SP> and is cut by moving the knife longitudinally of each face of the panel in turn. Alternatively the panel is cut from both faces substantially simultaneously by a pair of aligned cutter knives. In another example the cutter knife has a stepped taper.
