Abstract

1,234,725. Pressure cooker. P. & S. RICEMILLS, Inc. 4 March, 1969 [7 March, 1968], No. 11391/69. Heading B1X. [Also in Divisions B8 and F4] Particulate material is batch heated in tanks 200 supplied with compressed air at 204 and hot water at 206, the material then being fed from each tank in turn or to conveying means 212 which delivers a continuous stream of material to cooker 218 supplied with pressurized steam at 219, the cooked material being discharged to dryers 233. The feed and discharge units 216, 220 for the cooker each comprise a container 12 communicating through valve means 50, 20 with the cooker and with an environment of dissimilar pressure, the valve means being pneumatically operated to equalise the pressure in the container with that within the cooker or with that of the environment before transferring the material.
