Abstract
1,234,590. Speculun. S. LINDGREN AND O. G. LITTORIN. 18 Oct., 1968 [20 Oct., 1967], No. 49678/68. Heading A5R. A speculun comprises an angle piece 1 having two legs formed with grooves, one of the legs being narrower than the other at least in part, and coupling pins 5, fixed to the outer surfaces of the groove walls at the junction of the legs, which engage in holes 6, formed in the groove walls of a second angle piece 2 near the junction of its legs, for pivotal connection between the two angle pieces which are also provided with means of locking in the desired relative position. The grooves in the legs are formed at an angle of about 270 to each other in each angle piece. The groove walls of the second angle piece 2 are extended around the junction of the legs to provide arcuate paths 8, having saw-tooth shaped projections, on the inner faces. The holes 6 are elongated and have centre parts of reduced width. These holes are also extended in both directions along their length by narrow slots 10 which allow the pins 5 to be sprung from one end of the holes to the other. With the pins at one end, projections 7 on the first angle piece 1 engage in projections on the paths 8 in the second angle piece 2 so preventing pivotal motion in one direction. The angle pieces are released by springing the pins 5 to the other end of the holes 6 so that the projections 7 run along smooth arcuate paths 9 on the second angle piece. The pins 5 may be formed with an. oval head (13, figure 10) and may engage in curved slots (14, figure 10) such that the two angle pieces may only be separated when the pins 5 are at the centres of the curved slots (14). A detachable handle may be provided in the form of a container (11, figure 7) having interior ledges (12, figure 7) against which the edges of the grooves in one leg of an angle piece may be brought to abut. The handle (11) may be utilised for the collection of secretion.
