Abstract

1307164 Mitre box QUENOT MABO 30 June 1971 [10 July 1970 14 Jan 1971] 30539/71 Heading B4W [Also in Division G1] A mitre-box comprises a base-plate 1 and at least one longitudinal member 6 for guiding a workpiece to be cut, said longitudinal member being pivotally connected to and supported by a pair of rotatable supporting members 4 at least one of which is provided with means for guiding a cutting tool and with means for indicating the angle between said one supporting member and said longitudinal member, and means for locking said supporting members in a selected angular position. The means for guiding a cutting tool comprise sleeves 10 rotatable freely about pins 11. Fig. 2 shows two means for locking the support members 4. A plate 17 has a trapezoidal opening 20 which co-operates with spring-loaded plungers 22. Notches 29 correspond to 5 degree increments. If a setting that is not a multiple of 5 degrees is required plungers 22 can be made ineffective by engagement with notches 26. Brake shoes 19 can then be used, operation being by member 16. Fig. 4 shows an alternative embodiment where arms 32 are locked by a spring-loaded member 34.
