A self-locking fastener comprises groups of teeth 5 protruding from a bearing face 3 of the fastener, the groups being circumferentially spaced. As shown, a bolt having a screwthreaded shank 4 and a hexagonal head 1 is provided with a smooth annular bearing surface 3 bounded by a collar 2, the collar 2 being provided with three groups of teeth 5. The fastener may alternatively be a nut.
