[Also in Division D1] A trousers press has two flat members 5, 2A, which are preferably wooden, having facing surfaces between which trousers are pressed and on which are mounted stretcher bars 10A, 10B having convexly curved faces which in use engage the trousers. Each stretcher bar, which is of polystyrene, is mounted by means of at least two coil springs which urge the bars towards one another. The surface 2A has a resilient sheet 2B made of foamed polyurethane plastics material on which is held a flexible rubber sheet 2C having electric wire heating elements which preferably extend vertically. A wooden cuff board 3 is free to move rearwardly in a hole (3B), Fig. 7 (not shown), on its screw 3A against a compression spring 3C. The member 5 has two reinforcing bars 5A, 5B and a hinge bar 5C from which projects a hinge eye 5D and extending through this eye is a spring steel bar 5E which is bowed under tension, Fig. 8 (not shown). Clamping and restraining arms 6 which are connected by an integral cross-member 6B, Fig 6 (not shown), run over rollers 7 and have elbow members 7A for clamping the press shut. In the shut position the coil springs 9 compress the member 5 towards the rubber mat 2C to press the trousers. In use, the press member 5 is pulled open, a pair of trousers is placed in the press and the member 5 is pushed back, the cuffs of the trousers are gripped at the cuff board 3 and the stretcher bars 10A, 10B engage the upper part of the trousers, Fig. 5 (not shown), and move upward to stretch the trousers before pressing. The resilient sheet may alternatively be held on the member 5 with the heated sheet 2C directly on the member 2A.
