Abstract

[Also in Division H1] An arrangement for selectively connecting a plurality of electrostatic spray devices 18a, b, c, d, each with a support 25 on which it may be placed when not in use, to a high voltage source 9 comprises a high voltage switch having a fixed contact 2 connected to the high voltage source and a plurality of movable contacts 14 each of which is connected to an electrostatic spray device, and means whereby the movable contact is disconnected from the fixed contact when the respective spray device is on its support and is connected to the fixed contact when the spray device is removed from its support. The spray device may be suspended from support arm 25 which controls slide valve 23 governing admission of compressed air supplied through line 24 to lines 20 and 22 which controls piston 12, rod 13 and movable contact 14, so that when the device is lifted from the support arm, the slide valve is lowered and air is admitted to line 20 to depress the piston 12 and contact 14. Alternatively control may be effected by solenoids. When the movable contact is raised it may contact earthed cylinder 11 whereby the gun is earthed when supported on the arm 25.
