Abstract
1,231,633. Luminescent materials. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. 7 May, 1968 [23 May, 1967], No. 21500/68. Heading C4S. [Also in Division H1] A L.P.M.V. plant growth stimulating electrical discharge lamp has an internal fluorescent coating which emits radiation predominantly in the range 630 to 780 mÁ, the radiation in that range being more than double that emitted in the green and yellow range, the radiation in the blue and violet range being negligible, and the ratio of radiation in the range 630 to 700 mÁ to that in the range 700 to 780 mÁ being between 6 to 1 and 1 to 1. The coating may be a mixture of 78% by weight of tin-activated strontium calcium magnesium orthophosphate and 22% by weight of manganese-activated magnesium fluorogermanate, and the lamp filling may be inert gas at a pressure of 2 mm. Hg and a small quantity of mercury such that the mercury vapour pressure in operation is between 2 and 10 Á
