Abstract

1,231,308. Selecting articles in warehouses; endless conveyers. FMC CORP. 19 Aug., 1969 [4 Sept., 1968], No. 41216/69. Headings B8A, B8E and B8H. In a warehouse, Fig. 1, an operator 87 moves along the racks and up and down them on a vehicle 33 provided with a platform 88. Articles are selected in response to signals received in a viewer 101, Fig. 4, and pushed across ball-androller conveyers 91, 92 on to an endless belt conveyer 93. From here the articles are picked up by a belt conveyer 37 with slats 58 and discharged on to a gravity roller conveyer 61, Fig. 1, which feeds a further belt conveyer 74. Loaded pallets 22, Fig. 4, are pushed on rollers into the racks by the operator, where they are. retained by locking-pins. The vehicle is driven along a guide rail 44 by a motor 46. Fig. 6 shows an embodiment of vehicle in which guidance is by wheels 114, on vertical axles, which bear on the racks. The transfer conveyer 116 does not reverse the direction of movement of the goods and comprises two right-angle endless belt conveyers 135, 136 and a roller conveyer 133. The racks may be arranged to permit loading from the rear by fork-lift truck.
