Abstract
1,231,203. Valves. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 14 Aug., 1968 [18 Aug., 1967], No. 38288/67. Heading F2V. [Also in Division H1] A switch mechanism for a rotary actuator, e.g. for a valve, includes a shaft 14 driven by the output shaft (not shown) of the actuator and which drives through a reduction gear comprising a worm 42 and wheel 50, Fig. 1, or intermeshing gear-wheels 83, 84, 85, 86 and 87, Fig. 5, a secondary rotary member comprising discs 51 or a member 88, respectively, the secondary rotary member being mounted in a pivotable assembly 36 or 78 which moves against spring action to operate switches 28 when, after a predetermined rotation of the rotary member, an abutment 52 or 91 thereon engages an abutment 45, 46, or 95, which stops further rotation of the rotary member which instead then moves bodily and swings the assembly 36 or 78 about its pivot axis to operate the switches 28, which switch off the actuator motor, e.g. at open and closed positions of the valve. The mechanism also includes a torque-limiting device 58 for operating one of the switches 28 at a torque setting determined by adjusting screws 69, 70. Discs 51 and collars 89, 90, are angularly adjustable on wheel 51 and member 88. Pivotal movement of assembly 78 causes rotation of a cam 77 on shaft 14 to actuate switches 28 via arms 98A or 99A.
