Abstract
1,231,178. Ceramic compositions. ENGLISH CLAYS LOVERING POCHIN & CO. Ltd. 16 July, 1968 [18 July, 1967; 28 Nov., 1967], Nos. 32942/67 and 54191/67. Heading C1J. Ceramic articles are made from a semi-dry composition comprising, by weight based on the solids content, 30-90% china clay or ball clay, at least 5% muscovite mica as a fluxing agent and not more than 20% water, by moulding at a pressure of 0À5-10 tons/square inch, air drying and firing at 1000-1400‹ C. The composition may also contain up to 40% quartz; feldspar, wollastonite, limestone, dolomite and nepheline syenite may be included as fluxing agents. The moist composition may be formed into pellets passing a No. 3 O.B.S. sieve prior to moulding.
