Abstract

1,231,160. Two-part couplings. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 25 Sept., 1969 [28 Sept., 1968], No. 47245/69. Heading H2E. A multiple-socket edge connector comprises an insulating housing 1 having a linear array of compartments, partially separated from each other by partitions 3, each compartment housing two strip contacts 7 which are bent at one end into hooks 17, which are hooked over ridges 19. Some pairs of contacts have portions 23 protruding inwardly, and some contacts have portions 25 protruding outwardly of the centre line of the housing. After insertion of the contacts a locking strip 21 is inserted between them, being folded along a thin central part 29 before insertion, as shown at 21<SP>1</SP>, the strip springing into shape after insertion, being bent upwards and bearing on portion 31 of the housing 1, the locking strip 21 and contacts 7 looking one another in place.
