Abstract

1,230,449. Supersensitized photographic silver halide emulsions. ILFORD Ltd. Dec. 5, 1969 [Dec.18, 1968], No.60119/68. Heading G2C. Photographic silver halide emulsions are supersensitized in the green region by a combination of a dye of the formula:- where R 1 is alkyl of 1-4C, R 2 is alkyl of 1-4C or alkoxy, R 3 is H or alkyl of 1-4C, Y is -S- or -Se-, Z is a straight or branched chain alkylene of up to 6C, W is -SO 3 H or -COOH and X is an anion, or when W is -SO 3 H the corresponding zwitterion formed by elimination of X and the hydrogen of the -SO 3 H group, together with a styryl base of the formula:- where A completes a thiozole, benzthiazole, oxazole or benzoxazole ring and R 4 and R 5 are each alkyl of 1-4C.
