[Also in Division F2] A diffuser duct 10, e. g. at the outlet of a steam or gas turbine or compressor having rotor blades 11, has a curved ring 14 mounted adjacent a wall 13 of the duct to define with the wall an accelerating passageway for the boundary layer of the fluid flowing through the duct. The construction tends to prevent detachment of the boundary layer from the adjacent wall and thus improves the efficiency of the diffuser.
