Abstract
1,229,991. 22 - Guanidino - bisnorcholanes. SCHERING A.G. 11 June, 1968, No. 27777/68. Heading C2U. Novel steroids of the formula (wherein X is -CH 2 -,-CO-or-CH(OR)-, R being H or acyl and the group OR being in the alpha or beta configuration) and their acidaddition salts, are prepared from the corresponding 22 - amino - steroids (or salts thereof) and cyanamide or a salt of an S - alkyl- or S- aralkyl - isothiourea. Products which are 3- ols may be esterified and esters may be hydrolysed. Products which are free bases may be salified, and salts may be converted to the free bases. The novel steroids are said to be bacteriostatically, fungistatically and trichomonocidally active and may be made up with carriers into pharmaceutical compositions for oral, parenteral and topical administration.
