Abstract
1,229,910. Electric chance-game apparatus. R. C. RAVEN, W. PENNINGTON and P. H. LEMPKE. 30 May, 1969, No. 27456/69. Heading A6H. Game apparatus comprises; a plurality of bistable selection devices having first and second stable conditions and being individually manually operable from first to second condition; a plurality of corresponding play-indicating (PI) bistable devices also-having first and second stable conditions; means functioning at the beginning of play to place all of said PI devices in first condition; an electrical random signal generator conected to said PI devices for changing a predetermined number thereof greater than one and less than all from first to second condition sequentially and at random among all remaining unchanged PI devices; and means sensing coincidence of all pairs of corresponding selectioned and PI devices which are in their second conditions. As described the bistable devices are flip-flops, there being 80 each of election and PI types. The modified output of an electric noise generator in combination with the output of a monostable multivibrator and a series of logic gates is used to scan and select sequentially the predetermined number of PI devices. Lamps are used to indicate the players' selection and visual indication is given of the progress and state of the game. Logic circuits in combination with R-C circuits and diodes are used to sense the aforesaid coincidences, via pulses generated by charging or discharging capacitors. Basic play involves selection by the player of a predetermined number of selection devices, followed by initiation of the random selection of PI devices; the number of coincidences counted by the sensing device is used to determine the presence and magnitude of a winning condition. Variations of play and circuitry for controlling and operating the apparatus are described.
