Abstract

Strainers having sheet straining-materials. - To free oil or motor spirit from contained water, it is passed into a wiregauze strainer D in the form of a cone with an opening at the vertex which is directed downwards. The water passes through this opening into a glass vessel B forming a trap, and the oil or spirit passes through the strainer D and up through a second strainer E formed of two wire-gauze cones base to base. Any oil or spirit entering the vessel B passes up through a pipe R and escapes through the strainer E. A shield S prevents this oil from mingling with the water entering the vessel B. A valve may be placed in the pipe R. The rate of flow of the water through the vessel B is regulated by cocks C, Q.
