The tension in a cable is measured at a join consisting of a clevis 16 screwed into a turnbuckle attached to one cable end and a link 26 attached to the other cable end or an anchorage, the tension being measured by load cells 21 in recesses in the clevis pin 17, comprising strain gauge resistors connected via socket 22 to a bridge network. The clevis pin 17 is fixed by a dowel pin 28 in the measuring position shown, or rotated to an inoperative position.
