Abstract

1,227,272. Driving looms. HINDLE, SON & CO. Ltd. 16 Jan., 1970 [22 March, 1969], No. 15175/69. Heading D1E. A pattern barrel, cloth take-up roll or other component to be advanced stepwise in synchronism with a loom is drivingly connected to an electric motor 1 having an integral electromagnetic brake 2 and controlled by two-position starting and stopping switches 12, 7 arranged in series and actuated respectively by a cam 11 driven at half speed from a loom crankshaft 10 and a cam 6 or an output shaft 4 of the motor. The output shaft 4 is driven through reduction gearing and preferably drives a driver gear (5) (Fig. 1, not shown) engaging a space gear (9) of a pattern barrel drive. The shaft 4 may also drive a take-up roll through further reduction gearing. A wide loom may be provided with two electric motors controlled by a single starting switch 12 and respective stopping switches 7 at each side of the loom.
