Trimming slates. - A machine for cutting-off opposite corners of rectangular slates for use as described in Specification 121,145, [Class 20 (iv), Floors &c.], comprises a blade d fixed to a frame a<1>, a movable guillotine blade f pivoted so that the end remote from the pivot first engages the fixed blade d, and adjustable angular guides g<1> arranged to position automatically the slate for cutting. The blade f is returned by a spring or an elastic strand h and metal-lined slotted guides therefor are attached to the uprights b on the table.
