Abstract

122,683. Bailey, W. July 8, 1918. Paints; paint vehicles.-A vehicle for anti-fouling paint consists of a solution of five parts of American resin in six parts of white spirit. A powder for addition to the vehicle consists of a mixture of zinc oxide, whitening, red oxide of iron, barytes, suboxide of copper, yellow oxide of mercury, and sulphocyanide of copper, to which powdered silica may be added. The powder is mixed with a proportion of the vehicle and resin oil and milled, the mixture being afterwards further diluted to the desired degree with more of the vehicle.
