Abstract

1,226,762. Weighing electrically. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. April 18, 1968 [Aug. 20, 1967; Aug. 2, 1967], Nos.18244/67 and 35457/ 67. Heading G1N. The weight of a mass in a scale pan suspended from a support subjected to vertical acceleration, e. g. the weight of a load of fish suspended from a ship at sea, is measured by a load cell and automatically corrected by a vertical accelerometer to which it is rigidly attached. The signal from the load cell, which is in the form of a strain gauge bridge 20 (Fig. 2) or a variable differential transformer, is fed to a potentiometric accelerometer 21 and low resistance shunt constituted by meter 27. Two constructions of combined scale pan, load cell and accelerometer are described (Fig. 3, 4, not shown). The apparatus also compensates for the effects of tilting.
