Abstract

1,226,085. Shaft seals; bearings. N. W. LANCASHIRE. 10 April, 1969 [10 April, 1968], No. 18427/69. Headings F2A and F2B. Sealing means for the bearing 2 of a liquid flow meter propeller shaft 3 comprises a disc 9 mounted on the shaft for rotation therewith within an annular housing fitted in the bearing housing 4, the disc being slidable along the shaft. The annular housing is formed by two abutting channel-shaped members 7 whose radially inner edges slidably surround the shaft. The space 10 between the disc 9 and the housing 7 is packed with a lubricant, preferably grease, and the housing and disc are made of synthetic resin.
