In a microphone or other electroacoustic transducer having a diaphragm 3 comprising at least one layer of piezo-electric material supported by a frame 8, a tautly stretched foil 2 extends over the diaphragm 3 and is clamped to the frame 8. The diaphragm 3 (Fig. 5) comprises two layers of piezo-electric material provided with metal electrodes. It rests on the rim 9 of a brass frame 8. A foil 2 is laid on the diaphragm 3. A brass ring 1 is pressed over the rim 9 so that the foil 2 is tightly stretched and is clamped between the ring 1 and the frame 8. The lower end of the ring 1 is internally bevelled. The top electrode is soldered to a conductor with a soldering iron which makes a hole in the foil 2. The edge of the foil 2 is fused to the surface of the top electrode to provide a moisture-proof seal. Alternatively (Fig. 7), the diaphragm has a central hole and is supported by a pin 21 forming part of the frame 8. One or more ducts 10 provide acoustic connection between the diaphragm 3 and the interior of the frame 8.
