C. engine the inlet tube 14, Fig. 1 of an air cleaner 13 has its inlet end adjacent the exhaust manifold 10, a deflector 16 being mounted on the inlet end for movement between a position in which an open side of the deflector is directed towards the exhaust manifold and a position in which the open side of the deflector is directed away from the exhaust manifold. In the first position (i.e. the winter position) air heated by the exhaust manifold is drawn into the air cleaner and the deflector shields the inlet from cooler air. In the second position (i.e. the summer position) the deflector shields the inlet from air heated by the exhaust manifold.
