Abstract

The air filter is for an internal combustion engine which has the carburettor and exhaust manifold on opposite sides. The filter has a body formed of two half shells (4,6) connected together releasably. One shll (4) has a filter cartridge (F) with a connection (18) to the carburettor (20). The second half shell (6) has a tubular air inlet duct (6) and a tubular extension (22) forming an air inlet close to the exhaust manifold. A valve (26) is actuated by a thermostat (38) in the air passages to control airflow as a function of the air temperature passing through the filter.

Filtre à air pour moteurs à combustion interne de véhicules automobiles dans lesquels le carburateur et le collecteur d'échappement se trouvent de part et d'autre du moteur, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend un corps constitué par deux demi-coquilles aplaties (4, 6) qui peuvent titre assemblées l'une à l'autre par une liaison démontable ; la première demi-coquille (4) contient une cartouche filtrante (F)etprésste un raccord (18) destiné à la raccorder au carburateur (20) ; la deuxième demi-coquille (6) présente un appendice tubulaire (22) constituant une prise d'air ambiant et un raccord (24) constituant une prise d'air qui s'étend à proximité du collecteur d'échappement ; et une soupape (26) actionnée par un actionneur thermostatique (38) commande le passage de l'air par les deux prises d'air (22, 24) précitées en fonction de la température de l'air qui traverse le filtre. 1.
