Blades.-Relates to blade-fixing devices wherein packing-sections are employed which are undercut to fit annular projections on the sides of the blade-holding groove, and consists in dividing such packing sections into two or more parts D, E, Fig. 1, so that the parts can be inserted radially and twisted into place in the groove, the division F-G of the section extending from one side of the groove to the other, while the surfaces of each part contiguous with the groove projections lie respectively on opposite sides of planes M-M, N-N perpendicular to the sides and bottom of the groove. The last section may be built up of five parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 inserted in the order named, or any of the methods of inserting and holding the last section described in Specification 116,517 may be employed. Fig. 7 shows an undivided last packing-section secured by screws 0, P, the projections being removed locally from the sides of the groove. The division F G in this modifications is stepped. Figs. 16 and 17 show an example of a packing-section D formed integral with the blade and having a projection R engaging a recess in the section E. Either or both parts of the packing-sections may be made integral with or otherwise attached to the blades. The packing-sections D, E and blades may be further secured by being threaded on short lengths of wire Q, Figs. 9 and 10. Figs. 19 and 20 indicate a last packing-section in four parts 1, 2, 3, 4 secured by a tapered screw S, the four parts being caulked over the head of the screw.
