Abstract

1,224,071. Scouring and milling. CHERRY TREE MACHINE CO. Ltd. 22 July, 1969 [30 May, 1968], No. 25909/68. Heading D1L. In a method of scouring and milling woollen fabric (knitted or woven) in a dry cleaning machine having a cage provided with beaters, the loaded fabric is treated with steam while the cage is rotating unidirectionally and then with clean organic solvent while the cage is rotating alternately clockwise and anticlockwise, the solvent then being recovered for reuse. The steam is injected into the cage so as not to play directly on the fabric. Fresh solvent may be employed in a subsequent rinsing step.
