Abstract

A process and an apptS. are claimed for dry cleaning textile articles made of synthetic fibres, esp. polyester. The process comprises treating the articles with a soln. of surfactants in an org. solvent, the soln. also contg. in emulsified form an aqs. detergent compsn. and injecting steam during the washing cycle. The process combines the advantages of dry and wet cleaning removes both greasy and non-greasy stains and dirt, is cheaper and involves shorter washing cycles than wet processes, and does not reject the used, polluted water.
