Abstract

1,223,755. Surgical gags; facilitating breathing. J. DE CEUSTER. 5 March, 1968 [19 May, 1967], No. 10515/68. Headings A5R and A5T. A device for improving the air flow in through the patients mouth when applying artificial respiration comprises a cylindrical body 1 having a conical opening 4, at least one asperity (or corrugation) 2, and a projecting rim or collar 3, the asperity and the rim preventing the device from slipping when it is positioned in the patients mouth. It is stated that the device may be used in the corner of the patients mouth and in combination with apparatus which grips the patients chin, nose, and tongue so as to hold the mouth open and the tongue extended.
