Abstract

1,223,338. Di(meth)allylphthalatepolymerepoxy resin compositions. CIBA Ltd. 17 May, 1968 [18 May, 1967], No. 23622/68. Headings C3B and C3P. A heat-curable mixture comprising (a) a prepolymer or a telomer of a diallyl or dimethallylphthalate, (b) 5 to 50 parts per 100 parts of (a) of an epoxide compound or epoxy resin having an epoxide equivalent greater than 1, (c) a heat-curing agent for (b), (d) a free-radical curing initiator for (a), and, optionally, (e) fillers and/or reinforcing agents and (f) a monomeric diallyl or dimethallyl phthalate. The components may be dry mixed or using a diluent. Of the wide variety of composition components (a) to (f) mentioned, the following are exemplified (a) a diallyl o - phthalate homopolymer, (b) a bisphenol A polyglycidyl ether, an o - cresol novolac polyglycidyl ether, triglycidyl isocyanurate, tetrahydrophthalic acid diglycidyl ester, a cycloaliphatic diepoxide of the formula and o - phthalic acid diglycidyl ester, (c) 4,4<SP>1</SP>- diaminodiphenylsulphone, BF 2 - acetoacetanilide, and 4,4<SP>1 </SP>- diaminodiphenylmethane, (d) t - butyl perbenzoate, (e) kaolin, and (f) diallyl phthalate.
