Abstract

1,223,058. Cervico-dorsal exercising apparatus. C. HEBERT. 28 Nov., 1968 [1 Dec., 1967], No. 56466/68. Heading A6H. An apparatus for cervico-dorsal re-education in the seated position, consists of a chair having a seat portion 2, at right angles to a back portion 3, the apparatus being characterised in that the chair is fitted with a mechanism, 8-17, providing alternate translational movement in a plane perpendicular to the back, the mechanism being subjected to the resistance offered by a weight suspended from the ring 21, on the end of the cable, 19, in such a manner that a patient, through the intermediary of a head rest 16, actuates the mechanism. The mechanism may comprise a non deformable quadrilateral, 11, 12, slidably located in a horizontal fixed quadrilateral 8, 9, 10 to which the adjustable head rest 13-16, is welded. The mechanism may be vertically adjustable by means of supporting rods 7, formed with one or more racked portions, which can be immobilized in vertical guide tubes 5. The cable 19, may pass over the pully 18, and, via an adjustment chain, may be attached to the rear member 12. A vertically adjustable foot rest, 4, may be provided. Supporting straps may be attached to position 23 of the chain frame. An electrical contact 22, may actuate in order to indicate the completion of the desired transverse motion of the mechanism. The chain may have a tubular frame. (For Figure see next column)
