Abstract
1,222,658. Rakeheads for haymaking machines. JOSEPH BAUTZ G.m.b.H. 29 March, 1968 [26 April, 1967; 21 Dec., 1967; 10 Feb., 1968], No. 15250/68. Heading A1F. A rotary rakehead for a haymaking machine comprises one or more pairs of spinners mounted at an end 3 of a transverse carrier 4 and driven in opposite directions, spike arms 6-9 being provided on each spinner, and grouped, preferably three on each of a plurality of hub bodies 20, 21, so that the planes of rotation 10, 11 of the individual groups form an acute angle 12 with each other. The hub bodies 20, 21 rotate on a bearing member 24 clamped to a drive housing 27 by means of a lug 26, the drive being transmitted from an input shaft 31 to the hub bodies 20, 21 through meshing teeth 29. At least one spike arm (8), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be rotated in a bearing (18) and secured by a stud (19) out of contact with the ground during non-operative travel. The bearing member 25, Fig. 5 (not shown), may alternatively be flanged on to the housing 27, or may be formed from an angled shaft (28), Fig. 6 (not shown).
