Abstract
1,222,252. Photoconductive composition. A.B. DICK CO. 8 July, 1968 [18 July, 1967], No. 32549/68. Heading HlK. A photoeonductive composition comprises an acceptor compound in the form of a substituted or unsubstituted 9-dicyanomethylene fluorene and a donor compound in the form of an organic photoconductor which forms a charge transfer complex with the acceptor compound. The organic photoconductor may be polyvinylcarbazole, 2,5-bis-(4-diethylaminophenyl) - 1,3,4- oxadiazole or 2,2<SP>1</SP>-dinaphthylamine. The acceptor compound may be 9-dicyanomethylenefluorene itself or may be substituted by one or more nitro, cyano or carboxyl groups. A filler or pigment such as CaC0 3 , MgSi0 4 , BaS0 4 , ZnO, TiO a , clay or powdered polythene may be included. Organic binders such as P.V.C., copolyvinyl chloride/acetate or an epoxy or coumarone-indene resin may be used. Various fluorescent brightening agents may also be added. An electrophotographic plate is formed by coating the composition on paper.
