Abstract

1,221,883. Brake locking devices. E. PAG. LIARO and G. MORICI. 31 May, 1968 [7 June, 1967], No. 26291/68. Heading F2F. A device for holding a brake in an applied position comprises a non-return valve 31, which allows pressure fluid to flow only in a brakes on direction, connected in parallel with a normally open electromagnetically controlled valve 32 which can be closed by the driver when it is desired to lock in a brake application. The device may be incorporated in an hydraulic brake system between the master cylinder and brake cylinders, Fig. 2 (not shown), or in a compressed air brake system between the distributer valve and the brake cylinders, Fig. 3 (not shown) or in any brake system between a liquid reservoir and an hydraulic cylinder coupled to the brake pedal, Fig. 4 (not shown). A push button switch and holding relay may be provided for closing valve 32. Subsequent opening of the valve may be manual or automatic upon engagement of a gear and the clutch. The control circuit may include connections to an ignition key operated switch and the rear stop lights.
