Abstract

1,221,622. Electrostatic printers. FUJITSU Ltd. 21 Feb., 1969 [23 Feb., 1968], No. 9598/69. Heading G4H. An electrostatic printer comprises a line of electrodes arranged in n groups of m electrodes a-e across the paper, an earthed plate behind the paper, opposed to the electrodes, m driving circuits 341 &c., each for energizing corresponding electrodes in all the groups, n driving circuits 331 &c., each for energizing with an opposite potential all the electrodes of one of the groups, a particular electrode being caused to print by energizing one of the drivers 341 &c., and all but one of drivers 331 &c., diodes serving to clamp the potential of the unselected electrodes of the selected group to a level sufficiently low to prevent printing taking place. In the form shown, the drivers 341 &c. apply a positive voltage, and drivers 331 &c. a negative voltage. This could be reversed, the diodes also then being reversed and the selection made by energization of one of drivers 33 and all but one of drivers 34.
