Abstract

1,220,757. Vehicle loading platforms. BURTONWOOD MECHANICAL HANDLING CO. Ltd. 6 Aug., 1969 [20 Aug., 1968], No. 39857/68. Heading B8E. A load platform 9 fitted to a rear of a van is carried by an articulated linkage 5 slidably supported by guide columns 1 mounted on the van. Rods 14 are pivotally connected to the linkage and at their top ends 17 are engageable with a housing 3 which extends across the van body. The housing contains an hydraulic prime mover for moving sliders 4A along the guide columns 1; the sliders forming part of the linkage 5. In Fig. 1, a limit switch 18A has been actuated by a slider plate 4B and the platform 9, having been raised from ground level, automatically comes to rest. To close the platform to a stored position, Fig. 3, the operator, having caused the limit switch 18A to be short-circuited, causes the sliders 4A to be raised further, whereupon the rods 14 engage the housing 3 and the linkage 5 folds after which a limit switch 18B is actuated to stop upward movement of the sliders 4A. The platform is then folded manually to its stored position.
