Abstract

122,002. Warner, J. Jan. 3, 1918. Spring devices. -Relates to rear spring suspensions for motor-cycles, of the kind wherein a pair of links C pivoted to the rear extremity of the rigid frame A, B extend approximately horizontally therefrom to carry the rearwheel axle D, a second pair of links F being pivoted to the upper part of the frame and connected to the lower links by a yoke member E straddling t h e wheel. According to the invention, the pivotal connexion B<1> for the links F and the abutment H for the resilient control device are provided upon the upper or seat-pillar stays B, the abutment H being preferably adjustable as by the engagement of screwed stems H<2> and nuts H<3> with lugs J upon the stays. The two links F are connected together by the hinge-pins B<1>, F', and also by an intermediate pin F<2> which carries a sleeve in order to provide a pivotal connexion of the control spring G to the links. According to the Provisional Specification, more than one coil spring may be used, and a ball bearing is provided tor the spindle or pivot upon the seatpillar stay.
