[Also in Division F2] In a hand-held stud setter having a reversible sliding vane pneumatic motor 5, Figs. 1 and 2, the motor is operated in one direction by a button 2, and in the other direction by a button 3, each of the buttons controlling a pressure relief valve 27, 28, and a motor start valve 17, 18. Valve 17, 18 opens before valve 27, 28, when the button 2, 3 is pressed, and closes after valve 27, 28, when the button is released. In a modification, valve 39, 40, Fig. 3, is the starting valve and is of the piston type, whilst the pressure relief valve 42, 43, is a poppet valve, the valves being operated by a rocker 44. In a further modification, both valves are piston valves. In a still further modification, both pairs of valves are on the same axis, so that only one button 50, Fig. 7, is required. As the button is depressed, valve 53 opens channel 54 to channel 55, and pressure is relieved from the motor. Further movement, until detents 51, 52 are reached, causes valve 56 to open channel 57 to channel 58, and the motor rotates clockwise. On still further movement of button 50, both valves close and the motor stops. When the button is moved still further, valve 53 connects channel 58 to channel 60 to relieve pressure from the motor, followed by the opening of valve 56 to connect chamber 57 to channel 61 to rotate the motor in the anticlockwise direction.
