1,219,812. Stiffening elasticfabric. J. G. H. DUPRIEZ. 15 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967; 1 Dec., 1967], No. 2188/68. Heading DIP. [Also in Divisions B2 and E1 A textile strip suitable for use together with a liquid elastomer in covering a gap between fixed members on a building facade or roof comprises an open-mesh fabric which is elastic in at least one direction, has been dressed without filling the mesh with a stiffening material to reduce the tendency of the strip to curl, and is optionally coated with a thin layer of an adhesive also without filling the mesh. The elastic fabric may be woven with both warp and weft or only weft elastic or may be non-woven. Reference is made to polyester or crimped nylon for the elastic thread and to treatment of fibres with chemical reagents to make them elastic. The stiffening may be effected with polyvinyl alcohol or urea-formaldehyde] resin.
