[Also in Division B8] A resilient tank of cylindrical form with domed ends comprises a resilient outside wall 1 and a foldable inside wall 2 which defines an enclosure of variable capacity to contain fluid. Liquid can be introduced into the enclosure through the conduit 3 while the conduit 4 is opened to the air or any other source of gas. The inside wall unfolds and tends to assume the shape of the inner surface of the outside wall. The enclosure is emptied by introducing gas under pressure into the space C through the conduit 4 and/or applying suction to conduit 3, whereupon the inside wall folds inwardly upon itself and the liquid is expelled through conduit 3. The outside wall is formed by winding in polar fashion filamentary elements such as wires, tapes or cables formed of synthetic fibres, e.g. nylon, rayon or glass filaments and connecting such elements by a resin or an elastomer. There may be in addition a circumferential winding 6, Fig. 3, (not shown) which acts as a binding and reinforcing hoop. Means 7 support the windings and carry the conduits 3, 4, the latter being protected by tubes 8. The inside wall may be formed of one layer or have a plurality of layers of different materials. In the first embodiment, the inside wall is secured to the outside wall over one half of its length and in a second embodiment, Fig. 2, (not shown) by a centrally situated annular zone 9. The tank may be filled whilst retaining gas in the space C to produce a cushioning effect to damp any shocks produced in handling. Arrangements of straps and rings, Figs.4, 5, (not shown) to facilitate handling are described.
