Abstract

1,218,445. Electric switchboards. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. 27 Feb., 1969 [28 Feb., 1968], No. 9671/68. Heading H1N. [Also in Division H2] In a laminated bus-bar assembly comprising flat metal conductors 2, 3, 4, sandwiched between and bonded to layers of solid insulant 6, 7, 8, 9, to provide a self-supporting assembly of panel-like form, conductors 2, 3, 4 are arranged in stepped formation with respect to each other in such a way that from one face of the assembly connection can be made to each conductor 2, 3, 4 without the connecting means having to pass through any other conductor 2, 3, 4. The conductors are of copper, aluminium or an aluminium-based alloy, the insulating layers may be of synthetic resinbonded paper. The assembly is mounted on the wall 11 of a transformer tank and mounted on the assembly are three off-load isolators 12, 13, Fig. 1 (not shown), and 14, each as described in Specification 1,201,100 (see Division H1), and fifteen fuse units 21, as described in Specifications 1,183,525 and 1,183,526 (see Division H2), mounted on stems 19 welded or brazed to the conductors. A neutral bar 22 connected to an earth strap 23, Fig. 1, is provided together with a main fuse and neutral terminal 26 and fused test terminals 29, fuse 28 and socket 27, Fig. 1. The bus-bar assembly may be formed by moulding insulant round the conductors or bonding them to preformed layers of insulant.
