Abstract

1278698 Welding by pressure or fusion DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 14 July 1969 [12 July 1968] 35416/69 Heading B3R [Also in Division H2] An adapter for use between copper and aluminium conductors comprises an aluminium member welded to a copper member at least part of which is flexible in which a wedge-shaped portion of the copper member is forced into the aluminium member to form the weld. Four aluminium bars 4 are welded to an aluminium bar conductor 1, four packs of twenty laminated copper sheets 6a are pressure-welded at about 600‹ C. and under a protective atmosphere to the bars 4 and are welded or screwed to a copper pack conductor 2 comprising five bar conductors. Alternatively (Fig. 1, not shown) the flexible copper member may be four copper bars (6) attached by a connector (8) to four resilient elbow-shaped members (5) each of which comprises six fully annealed copper bars.
