Abstract

1,217,939. An endoscope with variable magnification. ERNST LEITZ G.m.b.H. 8 Nov., 1968 [25 Nov., 1967], No. 52940/68. Heading A5R. [Also in Division G2] An endoscope comprises a single optical system of variable magnification wherein the optical components are arranged in a common optical path and a variable magnification eyepiece, Fig. 1, includes a field lens which is adjustable to two fixed positions, one on each side of the eyepiece image plane. In an alternative construction, Fig. 2 (not shown) two eyepiece members are displacable to give a continuous variation in magnification between two end positions. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 3, an intermediate image forming arrangement is employed which is capable of variable magnification by adjustment of both members of the arrangement. The latter constructions are both suitable for use with a photographic device as both arrangements can be used to fix the position of the exit pupil.
